Chainsaw Training
Gain the skills and confidence to use a chainsaw safely and effectively in the field at this hands-on training hosted by Hollow Oak Land Trust. Led by Michael Powell of Penn State Extension, this two-day course (May 2–3) will cover essential safety practices, equipment handling, maintenance, and proper cutting techniques for trail and land stewardship work.
Whether you’re a volunteer, land steward, or simply looking to build your skills, this training offers practical, real-world instruction in a supportive outdoor setting. Snacks and water will be provided.
Cost:
$30 for Hollow Oak Volunteer Land Stewards
$50 for Hollow Oak partners and the general public

On-site parking will be available.
What to Wear & Bring:
Please come prepared for outdoor, hands-on work. Wear long pants, sturdy closed-toe boots, and weather-appropriate layers. Bring work gloves and eye protection if you have them. Participants are welcome to bring their own chainsaw, but it is not required—if you do, please also bring all necessary safety equipment to operate it properly.
